The Origins Of The Rugby Ball

The ball was first invented by William Gilbert and Richard Lindon. It was first made of fours sectors of leather around an inflated pigs bladder. The shape and size of the ball would depend on the pig bladder. The pig bladder would be blown up by breathing into it which wasn't a particularly nice job as it would be rotting. In the early 1960's Lindon introduced the rubber inner to the rugby ball.
